CWA extended a hand of solidarity to Boeing engineers and technical workers in Washington state who succeeded, after a 38-day strike, in beating back concession demands and winning the respect and fair salary treatment they sought from the aerospace giant.

Shareholder resolutions are another way that workers, as stockholders, can get management’s attention, and CWA members will be backing proposals at both the General Electric Co. and IBM Corp. meetings this month.

CWA President Morton Bahr joined leaders of the world’s trade unions in calling for an international code of conduct requiring General Electric Co. to respect workers’ rights wherever it does business.

An election-year Congress is taking up several measures that will affect working families — from budget proposals to taxes to health care — and CWA is pressing for action that will benefit workers’ jobs, pocketbooks and families.
