The Communications Workers of America has petitioned the National Mediation Board to hold a representation election among passenger service agents serving the six major hubs of American Eagle airline operations.

By a greater than 3-to-1 margin, members of the Communications Workers of America at Southern New England Telephone ratified a new contract that provides general and equity wage increases for workers across job titles, among other contract gains.

The Communications Workers of America has reached a tentative agreement with Southern New England Telephone covering some 6,300 workers, members of CWA Local 1298/Connecticut Union of Telephone Workers.

The National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C. upheld unfair labor practice decisions against the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press, ruling that the newspapers must reinstate striking workers and pay their lost wages and benefits going back to July 13, 1995.
