From all across the U.S., more than 1,200 workers from a range of industries have chosen to join CWA: wireless and casino employees in the West, day care workers in the Midwest, social work intake interviewers in the East, cable installers in the South.

The Postal Workers are celebrating a big success in Greensboro, N.C., where workers at East Coast Leasing, a private company under contract to the U.S. Postal Service, voted to join APWU.

Today's information age is bringing diverse groups of professionals to the realization that they are indeed (1) workers (2) who as individuals are often exploited and (3) who can improve their pay and working conditions by banding together. In other words, they need a union.

The deadline for all CWA-represented Bell Atlantic/NYNEX employees to participate in the SPECIAL FMLA REVIEW PROCESS has been extended to Feb. 15, 1999.

J. Arthur (Art) Jamison, who founded a CWA local in Phoenix, Ariz., and went on to become an administrative assistant to the vice president of District 7, died on Dec. 3 in a nursing home in Olympia, Wash. He was 80 years old and had been in failing health for some months.
