Swollen wrists. Blurred vision. Aching backs. Sore necks. CWA has spent 20 years fighting for workers at risk for ailments caused by poorly designed computer work stations. Now the federal government is pledging to tackle the problem as well.

As Internet technology transforms the last century's telephone companies into full-service communications corporations, CWA is responding with hands-on and "distance-learning" opportunities using the Internet to prepare its members for jobs of the future.

Victories Elsewhere:

CWA Local 9576 recorded a major organizing win among nearly 500 part-time instructors at a California community college, with substantial staff support from District 9 as well as help from CWA's Public Worker Department.

CWA will be a partner with GTE in an ambitious new program devoted to advancing the reading and writing skills of people of all ages.
