Leno: Union-Busting No Laughing Matter

Union members in The Tonight Show audience ought to give Jay Leno a heartier-than-usual round of applause from now on.

IUE members at General Electric Co. have overwhelmingly ratified a three-year contract, described as the richest economic package the union has ever negotiated with the company.

The old-fashioned joys of Labor Day are getting a 21st-century spin this year. A festival website complete with bands, political speakers, an arcade, bazaar and even a virtual parade is going online for a week to celebrate the annual workers’ holiday.

Cisco Systems, CWA’s partner in several Internet-based training programs, is looking for input from Cisco-certified professionals in our ranks to help make training more relevant to CWA members.

All CWA members will have a chance this year to attend the annual convention August 28 and 29 — in a virtual sense, at least. For the first time, videotaped high lights of speeches and convention activities will be available for viewing on CWA’s website.
