CWA locals in the Gulf region got ready this week to help members tap the union's Disaster Relief Fund for aid in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

CWA members in the Washington, D.C., area are urged to join a lunchtime rally Monday in front of the Canadian Embassy to support the 5,500 locked-out workers at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

CWA members in District 4 who work for SBC Yellow Pages won a new agreement that provides a base increase for non-commission workers plus bonuses and improves the commission plan for sales workers, along with other gains.

Former AT&T Wireless workers employed with Cingular Wireless in Virginia – 418 customer service reps and analysts at a call center in Lebanon and 37 network technicians statewide – gained CWA representation on Sept. 6 following card checks.

Thanks to strong inside committees and support from CWA members at Cingular Wireless, 1,578 former AT&T Wireless customer service representatives gained CWA representation at Cingular call centers in Oklahoma City, Okla., and Portland, Ore., on Sept. 2 and Sept. 6 respectively.
