CWA members rallied, leafleted and held a wave of mobilization actions at Avaya locations to mark the start of bargaining, with more activities underway as CWA fights to keep quality jobs and for a fair contract.

During tough times for journalism, speakers at The Newspaper Guild-CWA's annual Freedom Award Fund banquet said it was especially heartening to be able to honor reporters and organizations that are doing outstanding work no matter the obstacles.

The first proposal would change of language addressing Domestic Partner coverage to include opposite sex domestic partners, and add coverage for long term care, life insurance, pension plan, savings plan and family related programs.

On May 5-6, District 7 and the Union's Occupational Safety and Health Department conducted the District's Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Retreat. The retreat was held for the primary purposes of bringing local OSH health activists together to discuss, coordinate, and develop tactics and strategies focused upon identifying, preventing, and/or resolving member workplace safety and health hazards and related illnesses, injuries, and fatalities, share information on successes and failures, and establish and further communication and networking between and among national, district, and local OSH activists.
