We were at the table through the deadline of the contract and past; we finally left the table at 12:30AM, but without an agreement. But all hope is not lost – yet.

Bargaining Report for Thursday, June 1, 2006, the morning after the Company came as close as they could to forcing a strike: We understand everyone’s anxiety with the developments from early this morning – not only do we understand, we join you in those feelings of anxiety.

The Bargaining committee chairs from the Unions and Avaya met most of the day today trying to get closer to an agreement.

The parties continued to meet in sub-committees and are making progress on issues related to contract language. However, there are still major problems with the Company proposals on Pensions, Healthcare, and other National issues.

The Union and Company are still miles apart on several important proposals, but both the Union and Company are banging the table, making every effort to complete a TA by midnight.
