Statement by CWA President Morton Bahr Regarding Job Issues at Bell Atlantic and NYNEX
CWA has a written agreement with Bell Atlantic and NYNEX that guarantees there will be no involuntary layoffs of union members, and which greatly limits the transfer of personnel, as a result of the merger. This agreement runs through August 30, 1998.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Independent Association of Publishers' Employees, an independent union representing some 2,500 employees at Dow Jones operations in the U.S. and Canada, has voted overwhelmingly for representation by the Communications Workers of America.
