The Bargaining committee chairs from the Unions and Avaya met most of the day today trying to get closer to an agreement.

The parties continued to meet in sub-committees and are making progress on issues related to contract language. However, there are still major problems with the Company proposals on Pensions, Healthcare, and other National issues.

The Union and Company are still miles apart on several important proposals, but both the Union and Company are banging the table, making every effort to complete a TA by midnight.

Bargaining for Tuesday, May 30, 2006 is not a report that is going to be very encouraging for our Members based on how the day ended. Though we still have until midnight Wednesday before the contract officially expires, the Union’s Bargaining Team has some serious concerns for reaching a TA with the Company.
