Delmar K. “Jim” Gordon, retired vice president of CWA District 7, died May 7 of pneumonia, at a nursing home near his family in Omaha. He was 92.
Newspaper Guild Award Banquet Honors Crusading Journalists

A writer who went to jail for nearly six months to protect her sources and the First Amendment, reporters who exposed a cancer center’s fatal wrongdoing and a pair of promising young journalists were honored in May at The Newspaper Guild-CWA’s first Freedom Award Fund Banquet.
CWA Family Lost Two in Attack on World Trade Center

One CWA family suffered a double tragety in the Sept. 11 terror attacks in New York City. Tina Grazioso, a former US Airways employee and member of CWA Local 1171 in Syracuse, N.Y., lost both her husband and brother-in-law at the World Trade Center, reported local President Rose Mary Nickerson.

CWA leaders in Oregon were key to an effort to reshape and revitalize the state’s labor movement at a May conference in Portland, where more than 200 delegates from 45 unions and labor councils approved an historic “New Alliance” for labor, the AFL-CIO reported.
