Several CWA local presidents in California have been distributing checks from SBC Communications, part of the $1,052,579 proceeds of a wage settlement ordered by an arbitrator on behalf of 267 members.

The California Organization of Police and Sheriffs (COPS) has brought its more than 3,000 members into CWA. Leaders of the two unions announced the signing of an affiliation agreement on April 7.
