American filmmaker Michael Moore is demanding that the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. drop weekend plans to air his Academy-Award-winning film "Bowling for Columbine."

AFA-CWA has filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao and FAA Administrator Marion Blakely for failure to ensure the health and safety of flight attendants and other employees working in the airline industry.

During CWA Customer Service Professionals Week this year, locals will be mobilizing in the workplace to fight attempts by the corporate lobby and the Bush Labor Department to curtail protections of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

A group of 140 former AT&T Wireless employees now making up Cingular Wireless's retail sales unit in Maryland organized with CWA on Sept. 20. They will be represented by CWA Local 2107. The American Arbitration Association officially certified union recognition for the group on Sept. 20.

Showing overwhelming support for union representation, 48 former AT&T Wireless employees at Cingular Wireless -- 14 network technicians in Wisconsin and 34 retail sales associates in New Hampshire -- organized with CWA on Sept. 12 and 15.
