During the last several years, more and more CWA members employed in a variety of telecommunications craft/outside plant jobs have suffered work-related accidents, injuries, health problems, and fatalities because of exposure to/contact with electrical energy/power lines. CWA is committed to ensuring that represented employers provide our members with safe and healthful working conditions and are working towards the prevention of member accidents, injuries, illnesses, and fatalities.

A Verizon technician in Maryland died when he made contact with electrical wires on a shared utility pole, the company's third electrocution death in five months.

Bylines have returned to York, Pennsylvania's, newspapers, workers can wear union shirts and buttons again and the company has sworn to bargain in good faith from now on under an agreement settling a long list of NLRB charges against MediaNews Group.

As part of CWA's Speed Matters campaign, the union is promoting the Internet speed test feature on its www.SpeedMatters.org site, which will collect nationwide data on actual download and upload speeds in each region by zip code.
