Since July 25, representatives from CWA, IBEW, and Verizon have met with federal mediators behind closed doors in Washington, DC, in an attempt to resolve contract negotiations going on for more than a year. A wave of support for workers has flooded Verizon corporate offices.

Nearly five thousand workers and supporters rallied at the Verizon offices in downtown Philadelphia on Saturday morning to demand a fair contract and good jobs at Verizon.

About 175 people held a vigil at Verizon's offices in Irving, Texas, last Saturday while time for negotiating a new contract ran out.

The Clergy Community for Social and Economic Justice, an organization representing more than 2,000 faith communities in New York state took a public stand with Verizon employees by sending a letter to CEO Lowell McAdam on August 1.
