Unions Give Phoenix Children a Christmas to Remember

Dee Cantoni doesn’t wear a red suit and whiskers — another CWA member takes care of that — but for hundreds of Arizona children, she’s Santa Claus.

With an unpopular candidate out of the running, CWA President Morton Bahr and other labor leaders reacted with cautious optimism in January to the nomination of Elaine Chao as U.S. labor secretary.

The 107th Congress has started its work and CWA is closely following the action, especially any attempts to take away from working families the gains made in job safety and health, labor standards and the right to participate in the political process.

AT&T Broadband workers in Ocean City, Md., by mobilizing union and community support, have won assurance from Comcast Cable that the company will bargain with their union when it acquires the city franchise from AT&T on April 1.
