Districts 7, 9 and 13 Claim Latest Organizing Victories

CWA’s motion to intervene in the bankruptcy proceeding of Global Crossing Inc. has been granted by a federal bankruptcy judge in New York.

CWA is urging Senate support for a measure introduced by Sen. John Breaux (D-La.) that will remove the disparity in the rules and regulations governing companies that provide broadband services to consumers.

CWA and, indeed, the entire labor movement lost a great friend on May 1 with the passing of Roman Catholic Monsignor George G. Higgins. He was 86.

Florine Koole, one of CWA’s early female staff representatives who rose to be assistant to the executive vice president, died at her Edina, Minn., home of cancer on May 8. She was 79.
