Texas State Workers Resume Privatization Fight

As they did in the mid-1990s, Texas state employees represented by CWA are fighting to save thousands of jobs and protect badly needed human services targeted for cuts and privatization under legislation passed earlier this year.
ALLTEL Talks Resume, Strikers Stay Strong

CWA Vice Presidents Jimmy Smith, District 3, and Jimmy Gurganus, Telecommunications, joined CWA members in separate visits to picket lines and meetings with Kentucky strikers who have been on strike against ALLTEL since June 8. Bargaining resumed after hard work and strong labor community support for the strikers.

Verizon East bargaining continued this week at regional tables in New York, Washington, D.C., and at local tables. CWA negotiators are battling the company's demands for givebacks, even of key workplace gains won in the last round of negotiations.
