ALLTEL Workers Strike in Kentucky

On June 8, 450 ALLTEL workers in Kentucky went on strike as their former Verizon contract expired. Members of Local 3372 and Local 3371 maintained picket lines at company facilities in Lexington, Ashland and other Kentucky locations. Roving pickets were following nonunion contract repair technicians to customers' places of business.
NJ Committee Backs Call Center Bill

The State Government Committee of the NJ Assembly approved a measure to better protect consumers by requiring customer call center employees to identify themselves, their location, and their actual employer. The bill is being considered by the full Assembly.
IUE-CWA, GE Reach Tentative Pact

IUE-CWA reached a tentative national agreement with General Electric Co., on June 15. IUE-CWA Division President Edward L. Fire said the settlement meets the union's goals of "safeguarding affordable health insurance and substantially increasing pensions for our members," among other gains.
CWA Bargains OFS Contract
