North Carolina strikers at Verizon South are holding their own in a fierce struggle over the company's concession demands.

TNG-CWA members at the Baltimore Sun ratified a contract under protest following bitter negotiations with the company that nearly resulted in a strike.

CWA and a host of other union members will rally at noon Monday, June 30 in front of the DOL's Francis Perkins Building to tell the public that near-secret actions by the Labor Dept. will steal overtime pay coverage from at least 8 million workers.

With their contract expiring June 24, TNG-CWA members at the Baltimore Sun voted almost unanimously to give the union the authority to call a strike if no agreement is reached. Issues include keeping quality jobs, better wages as well as other key concerns.

Delegates to the IUE-CWA GE Conference Board reached a tentative national agreement with General Electric on June 18 that yields wage increases, pension improvements and other gains. The agreement has been sent to members with a recommendation for approval.
