The executive board of the Communications Workers of America approved strike action if a fair contract cannot be reached in negotiations between CWA and AT&T Legacy, a nationwide unit of workers.

Today’s bargaining started with a small improvement in Article 44 (CNSC), ATS/ARS and Article 10 (Arbitration). The rest of the session was business as usual.

First of all, the Bargaining Team was glad to hear so many Locals represented on last night’s conference call.

Bargaining Update Due to the 60-day suspension of CWA Local 2252 President Sean Linehan, and the hostile actions of AT&T security in the Oakton, VA building, we have demanded that the Company find a neutral site where we can bargain without intimidation.

Attached is the form for submission of bargaining demand proposals by your members for our 2009 contract negotiations. Please make use of your mobilization structure to distribute and collect the forms. As you know, this is an excellent opportunity for Local leaders and stewards to talk to the members first hand. This can also provide you with an opportunity to test the mobilization structure you have in place as we approach bargaining.
