CWA negotiators reached a tentative agreement covering 9,000 AT&T Mobility workers in District 6 that upgrades more than 5,000 customer service jobs, increases pay across the board and sets up committees to resolve retail scheduling and other issues, among other gains. 

Incorporating the suggestions of local presidents from around the country, CWA has launched a new Telecom Strategic Industry Fund campaign to support the fight for jobs, health care and retirement security throughout the telecommunications industry.

A settlement between Cincinnati Bell and CWA Locals 4400 and 4401 preserves the jobs of 440 call center service reps whose jobs had been targeted for outsourcing, provides for returning previously outsourced jobs, and protects health benefits.

Concerned over the lack of job security, poor wages, and exorbitant health care costs, 588 customer care workers at an AT&T Government Solutions center in Dover, N.H., gained representation with CWA Local 1298 through majority card check. 

Among the major contracts that CWA is bargaining this year are Verizon "East" — covering the traditional Verizon territory from Maine to Virginia — and Qwest Communications.
