There?s no doubt about it: our union, our movement and all working families are facing tough times. The political power of the Big Business lobby and the Chamber of Commerce has never been greater. The Senate, following archaic rules that require 60 votes to even bring a bill to the floor, has enabled Republicans to obstruct the nation?s business, put holds on nominees and block critical measures for working families, like an extension of unemployment compensation and financial reform that would prevent another Wall Street meltdown.

In 2005, CWA Convention delegates voted to begin the work of making our union ?Ready for the Future.? This plan established strategic industry funds that have enabled our union to use innovative tactics and strategies, created a blueprint for building a new political movement and organized a Stewards Army that?s now 30,000 strong.

Through the T-Mobile SIF, CWA and ver.di, the union representing Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile workers in Germany, are working together to win bargaining rights for T-Mobile USA workers.
