6,000 Child Care Providers Go Union in New Jersey
More than 6,000 child care providers in New Jersey signed up for representation by CWA and AFSCME. The workers subsequently gained collective bargaining rights when New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine signed an Executive Order on Aug.
9,300 Northwest Airlines flight attendants vote AFA-CWA
More than 9,300 flight attendants at Northwest Airlines voted for AFA-CWA representation in a union representation election July 7. More than 80 percent of eligible flight attendants voted in the election, supporting AFA-CWA by 4,349 votes and 2,668 for PFFA, an independent union.
3,000 Jackson, MS City Employees Gain Bargaining Rights
Jackson, Mississippi city employees gained collective bargaining rights when the City Council voted unanimously on June 21 to give the workers the right to bargain. Earlier, a majority of the nearly 3,000 employees voted to organize with MASE-CWA Local 3570.
1,300 NYC Health & Hosp. Corp Workers Get CWA
After a long, 12-year legal battle, 1,300 employees with New York City's Health and Hospital Corporation won CWA representation on May 30.
