As bargaining continues, it is clear that AT&T does not value your work. The company continues to deny Union proposals intended to increase compensation and help their employees keep up with rising costs. In addition to rejecting our proposals, the company continues to try to shift the cost of medical benefits to you.

AT&T, through their bargaining reports, has chosen to bargain directly with you, the public and the press. What AT&T has failed to mention is that nearly every proposal they have passed is retrogressive. The company passed a Parental Leave proposal that offers you less than 20% of the leave that they offer their managers. Their proposal to “streamline” network titles was for a title merger without any additional benefit to either title. The company, on two different occasions, have proposed benefits packages that dramatically shift the cost to you. Keep in mind this is a company that makes billions of dollars a year and pays their top executives millions of dollars, but they want you to pay more for medical coverage.

The Union Bargaining Committee met with AT&T over the last several days. While bargaining is going slowly, we are compiling a lot of information for scheduling, work deployment, time off and other concerns across all titles. The Union has gone over all of the surveys and spoken to our members in each area, so we know what issues are most important to you. As our information requests are filled by the company, we are developing proposals to strengthen our contracts and fix these issues.

Bargaining with AT&T continued over the last couple of days. Your bargaining committee met with the Company and discussed many issues across several titles. Scheduling for call centers, retail, work from home and IHX issues were discussed at length. We expressed the importance of fair scheduling so people can plan their lives and spend time with their families. We also discussed the diminished headcount at the retail locations and the stress it creates.

The Union and Company met today to continue bargaining. The Union bargaining team made it
clear that we were not going to accept their cost shifting plans and proposals. The Company seems to believe that shifting medical costs to you is a good way to increase profits and line their pockets. The Union also spent a long time outlining the respect and dignity you deserve on the job.
