N.Y. Public Service Commission Signs Off on T-Mobile/Sprint Merger, Imposes Job Retention Requirements at CWA's Urging

The Communications Workers of America expressed disappointment at the New York Public Service Commission's decision this week to approve the T-Mobile/Sprint merger, but noted that the union's concerns about likely merger-related job loss were taken into account by the PSC's requirement that the company's direct employment level be preserved at the same level for at least three years after the merger.

Despite strong results AT&T is making deep cuts in its workforce. Today's report shows that AT&T has eliminated 11,780 jobs in 2018 alone. AT&T is also on track to pay out three-quarters of its 2018 profits to shareholders in the form of dividends and share buybacks. Members of the Communications Workers of America, who are bargaining with the company for a new contract in the Midwest and Legacy T units, have serious concerns about the company's gutting of good, family-supporting jobs.
