Alliance@IBM/CWA members, part of a coalition fighting for pension fairness, are mobilizing to block a provision in a pending pension and retirement bill that would legitimize cash balance pension plan conversions and the discriminatory practices that deny long-term workers the full pension benefits

CWA is pressing Congress to reject a proposal by Sen. Ernest Hollings (D-S.C.) that would restrict entry by foreign-owned telecommunications companies with more than 25 percent government ownership into the U.S. market.

A resolution welcoming IUE’s 113,000 members into the CWA family got hearty approval from delegates, on Aug. 29, at the 62nd annual convention.

CWA and the 113,000-member IUE, two unions with shared roots in the organizing struggles of the CIO in the 1930s and ‘40s and with a common tradition of social activism, have joined forces.

Union members will make the difference in the Nov. 7 elections, one way or another. History proves it.
