VIVIAN MAE MANN, who went to work as an operator with Indiana Bell Telephone in 1925 and later served as a CWA state director in Indiana for 23 years, died on Feb. 28 in Mishawaka, Ind. She was 90 years old at the time of her death.

CWA Local 9415 members in Berkeley, Calif., who work for radio station KPFA, marched back to work in late July after being locked out for more than three weeks by Pacifica Foundation, the network which owns KPFA and four other stations.

CWA members were among the tens of thousands of working people who made a stand in Seattle and sent a strong message to the international trade ministers attending the World Trade Organization meeting.

David H. Gray, assistant to Printing, Publishing and Media Workers Sector President Bill Boarman, has announced his retirement. Gray began his career as an apprentice at the Detroit News in 1956 and joined Detroit Typographical Union 18 (CWA Local 14503) in 1957.

More than 1,400 people crowded into Our Lady of Mercy Church in Rochester, N.Y. on Nov. 8 to bid farewell to widely respected labor leader Robert J. Flavin, president of Rochester, Local 1170.
