Union Fights for Verizon Workers' Organizing Rights

Viasystems Group Inc., is closing its Richmond, Va., manufacturing plant and moving the operation to China.

Newsstand and bookstore employees across Manhattan ratified a first contract April 2, winning significant pay raises, a signing bonus and reduced cost for health insurance, said Linda Foley, president of The Newspaper Guild-CWA.

Who do you trust? With their plant on the auction block, workers at Lucent Technologies’ fiber optics plant in Sturbridge, Mass., overwhelmingly chose to believe CWA and IUE-CWA leaders from five different locals who testified to the advantages of unionization.

The mobilization of thousands of CWA members and a very effective corporate campaign produced an agreement to resolve major problems for members at AT&T and to help build a more constructive relationship at the company.
