Workers at a Bay Area T-Mobile retail store in Pinole, Calif., voted last week to join the Communications Workers of America (CWA). The vote was 7-2 in favor of union representation.

CWA remains skeptical of last-minute pledges and unenforceable commitments from T-Mobile - a company that has proven itself untrustworthy and hostile to workers’ rights. The news out of Nevada and Texas should give little comfort to workers and consumers in either state.

Disturbing reports from the Philippines indicate that military police have raided the regional offices of several progressive and union organizations in Bacolod, arresting union organizer Mary-Anne Krueger (known as Anne) as well as an organizer for the BPO Industry Employee Network (BIEN), who was subsequently released.
