Thank you for Calling Your Virginia State Delegate to Protect Call Center Jobs

Thank you for calling your Virginia State Delegate to ask them to support legislation protecting call center jobs in Virginia. We must push the House of Delegates to do the right thing and pass legislation to force greedy corporations to stop killing good Virginia jobs in favor of poverty-level jobs overseas. We need an economy that works for everyone, not just the rich and powerful.

When you are connected, ask for the office of your Virginia Delegate. Here's a suggestion for what you can say to the person who answers the phone. They may ask for your name and address to verify that you have contacted the right office.

My name is  __________and I am a constituent. I’m calling today to ask you to support House Bill 439. By supporting this bill you will help protect my job and limit the outsourcing of call center jobs overseas.

Call Centers are important jobs for many communities in Virginia, with over 70,000 call center workers employed in this industry in our state alone. But thousands of call center workers across Virginia have lost their jobs as many employers are sending that work overseas to countries like the Philippines, India and Mexico. In many cases, these jobs have been lost a little at a time so that when a worker in Virginia leaves their job, instead of hiring another Virginian, the calls are sent overseas. These incremental losses are never reported but this bill would help fix that. It would also make sure that companies that don’t want to help Virginians would not get the same benefits, like grants, tax incentives and state contracts, that other companies that create jobs in Virginia should be getting.

This bill is necessary and my family and I are counting on you to support House Bill 439.
