CWA Supports Including Air Carrier Worker Support Extension Act in COVID Relief Deal

The Communications Workers of America issued the following statement regarding the introduction of S. 4634, the Air Carrier Worker Support Extension Act:

"The airline Payroll Support Program (PSP) has been uniquely effective among CARES Act programs in supporting and protecting good jobs. Because of the PSP's thoughtful structure, the program has saved tens of thousands of jobs and ensured that the aviation industry will be able to get back up and running at full strength once public health conditions allow.”

“For months, CWA has been calling for an extension of the PSP in the next round of COVID-19 relief. If the PSP isn't extended, tens of thousands of passenger service agents, flight attendants, and other airline workers will begin facing mass layoffs next week.”

“CWA is very grateful for the introduction of the Air Carrier Worker Support Extension Act. We urge Congress to stay at the negotiating table to reach a deal that protects jobs, public health, and critical public services. Congress must ensure that the Air Carrier Worker Support Extension Act is included in that package."
