CWA Statement on the Executive Order on AI
The Communications Workers of America (CWA) union released the following statement in response to the executive order, “Ensuring a National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence.”
Donald Trump, on behalf of his tech billionaire supporters, is trying to stop state legislators from regulating AI to protect our jobs and our privacy. This is a shameful attack on working families.
American workers have been clear: workers impacted by technology must guide how it is implemented. This executive order violates the will of the American people, who have defeated legislative efforts to preempt AI protections. This misguided action also threatens funding for rural broadband, holding communities hostage to force policies that could not be passed through democratic means.
For AI to serve working people, we must have a strong voice in how it is developed and used. Together, we will continue to fight to build a future where technology enhances human potential, supports good jobs, and strengthens our communities.
