CWA Members and Frontier Communications Extend Union Contract and Continue Negotiations
Charleston, W.Va. – Members of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) at Frontier Communications in West Virginia and Ashburn, Va., have made an agreement with the company to continue negotiations and extend the current contract through August 19th.
The current contract covers approximately 1,400 CWA-represented employees and was set to expire at 11:59 p.m. on August 5, 2023. Earlier this month, union members voted overwhelmingly to give union leaders authority to call a strike if negotiations between CWA and the telecom company failed to reach a fair settlement.
The Communications Workers of America issued the following statement:
CWA has agreed to extend the current contract for two weeks to August 19th at 11:59 p.m. Both parties agree to maintain the status quo with the Collective Bargaining Agreement continuing in full force and effect.
Our members want to be on the job, delivering quality service for their customers and providing for their families. This contract extension will give Frontier executives the opportunity to do the right thing and move towards a fair contract so that we can all stay focused on providing quality service to our customers and building fiber connections to as many homes and businesses across West Virginia as possible.
