Communications Workers of America Statement on Appointment of Laphonza Butler to U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Statement from Communications Workers of America (CWA) President Claude Cummings Jr.:

The members of CWA congratulate the people of California on the appointment of Laphonza Butler to be their next Senator. In Senator Butler, Californians will have a true champion of working families to represent their voices in the U.S. Senate. Laphonza Butler has lived a life of service to working people and carries their stories with her to the office. Her lived experience as a Black woman, a lesbian, and veteran of the labor movement will bring an important perspective to the Senate, and we look forward to working with her.
