Workers Memorial Day

Every April 28, union members observe Workers Memorial Day to remember workers who have been killed or injured on the job and to press ahead in the fight for strong safety and health protections.

In candlelight vigils, rallies, silent protests and other demonstrations, union members take the words of Mother Jones to heart and "mourn for the dead and fight for the living." This year, the theme for Workers' Memorial Day is "Good Jobs-Safe Jobs: Protect Workers Now."

"During the last year, CWA has lost four of our members to workplace fatalities," said CWA President Larry Cohen, and many of our members have suffered work-related injuries, illnesses, and "near misses," he added.
