Proxy Campaign Set for Verizon Shareholder Meeting

CWAers are getting ready for the Verizon Communications annual meeting set for May 5 in Houston. Verizon locals will collect proxies of members who want their union to deliver those proxies at the meeting, along with a clear message that Verizon management must make some changes if it wants workers' help in bringing back business from competitors, reported CWA District 2 Vice President Pete Catucci.

At the meeting, CWA will remind management that it's time to bring back 3,000 DSL tech support jobs and other work that has been contracted out, restore true bundled service that customers want, and put in place real neutrality at Verizon Wireless, instead of management's campaign of intimidation and firings of Verizon Wireless workers trying to organize, Catucci said.

Proxies should be arriving in the mail shortly, and workers who want CWA members attending the meeting to deliver their proxies should take the following steps:

· Vote on proxy proposals by placing an "X" in the for, against, or abstain box for each proposal. Voting recommendations will be posted at ga.cwa-union.org/verizon.

· Sign and date the card where indicated.

· Send the proxy card and the return envelope to your local by April 29.
