Subject: Payroll Update: Time Reporting for Bi-Lingual Differential
With the recent ratification of the AT&T Corp. and Communications Workers of America contract, a new bi-lingual differential of $2.50 per day is available when qualified employees (those who are test qualified in the foreign language) are assigned to communicate in a foreign language to customers, provided the assignment is worked for three or more hours in a day.
In order to receive the bi-lingual differential, the time must be reported in eLink o your feeder system. A new bi-lingual differential code is scheduled to be established in eLink in early 2013. In the interim, the differential must be reported using the extra pay payment code 7TX1 (Taxable Payment (FLSA)).
Note: These differential payments will be shown as Taxable Payment on the paycheck stub.
This differential is retroactively effective to April 8. Therefore, it is necessary to also report all applicable differential payments back to that date. Please enter this as a payroll correction no later than November 1. Corrections entered by November 1 should appear on paychecks dated November 16 or 30.
