Payroll Changes

As you have been informed, Alcatel-Lucent is subcontracting its Payroll Department to ADP in April.  We will deal with the impact on our members in Payroll over the next few months.  However, I wanted to clear up one concern.

The Company is clearly trying to push as many people as possible to move to Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).  There are currently about 100 members who want paper checks.  The company documents say, "Paper checks will only be available where legally required."  "Legally required" includes certain States that have laws requiring that paper checks must be an option AND PEOPLE COVERED UNDER OUR UNION CONTRACT.

There will be an option under this new payroll system for people who are currently receiving paper checks, though the process will be different.

While members are being asked to make their choices before December 31, there will be no change in the process until April 1, 2011.
