Organizing’s Sweeter the Second Time Around
CWA Local 1120, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., recently reported two organizing victories, both won on second attempts after losing elections earlier this year.
Drivers at The Times Herald Record voted 28-8 to join CWA on Nov. 10, and the local won, 11-4, an election for workers at Time Warner Cable of Sullivan County, N.Y.
District 1 Organizing Coordinator Ed Sabol praised the persistence of local Executive Vice President Michael Jordan, Organizer Jerry Ebert, and committee members Gregg Irwin, Sam Hook, Tom Steed and Rob Esposito. Local 1120 also represents editorial employees at the Dow Jones/Ottaway newspaper.
