Bargaining Report – Weekend Work
While others were able to enjoy time with their families on this year's Mother's Day, the Union's Bargaining Team worked on Articles 10 – Hours of Work, Article 11 – Premium Payments, Article 12 – Vacations, and numerous other Articles, researching health insurance rates and other issues in an effort that all our Members and Retirees will be able to continue to enjoy Mother's Day in the future.
We have several proposals ready to pass to the Company when bargaining resumes with the Company on Monday. We hope the Company will be more receptive of the Union's proposals than they have proved so far – the Company must continue in these bargaining efforts with the understanding that verbal agreements are no longer acceptable to the Union. If we are truly going to reach an agreement, the Company must commit to putting in writing those issues on which they claim to agree with the Union; anything less is not an agreement.
We hope all our Members had a wonderful Mother's Day and we certainly express that sentiment to all mothers among our Members. We also hope our work through this Mother's Day will be an effort that will allow all our Members and Retirees to enjoy happy and prosperous Mother's Day and every day in the future.
