National Bargaining Report – Day 3

There is not much to report for Day 3 of Bargaining.

We experienced some technical difficulties with our computer programs and weren't able to bring up any of our proposals to work on, so Bill Bates advised the Company we wouldn't be ready to meet with them today because of the system problems.

We will be spending the day and evening working on proposals in preparation for subsequent bargaining meetings.  We are also working on data requests we will be submitting to the Company regarding health care and other issues.

Many experts at CWA Headquarters have been reviewing the Retirees Health Care issues as presented and are working diligently to help our Bargaining Team to respond to the Company with our own comprehensive Retiree Health Care plan.  It must be understood that CWA, the Locals and our Members will not desert our Retirees; they built this company and made our contracts possible – we will not leave them on the street corner alone.  We should now start making Member mobilization plans around the Retiree Health Care issue.  Understand, everyone will be a Retiree someday, so the action you take today to protect our current Retirees is an action to protect your future when you become a Retiree.

Our next scheduled Bargaining meeting is set for Thursday, May 11th at 10:00AM.
