"Noteworthy" Pact at BNA

TNG-CWA Local 35 on June 20 reached a tentative agreement with the Bureau of National Affairs, following more than four months of intense negotiations and mobilization, reported TNG-CWA Pres. Linda Foley. At lunchtime, just prior to settlement, the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. Labor Council and Labor Heritage Foundation brought more than 150 activists, above, to support the local, as part of the AFL-CIO’s 7 Days in June campaign. The Guild represents 1,200 editorial, production and non-production employees at BNA, a respected news service and source of publications for business, labor, legal and other professionals. The three-year agreement, ratified June 27, yields 2 percent annual increases for employees on progressive wage scales and increases of 3 percent, 3.5 percent and 3.5 percent the beginning of each year for workers not on scales. Pay increases are retroactive to Feb. 27. Other improvements include 15 days paid parental leave for birth or adoption.
