Mobilization Report

C&T Locals continue to turn up the heat on mobilization; meanwhile, D9 reaches a tentative agreement & D4 ratifies their contract.

With the continued support of all Locals across the country, C&T Locals aid progress at the bargaining table.  After 18 weeks without a contract, we remain far apart on our main issues of job security and health care, though our C&T bargaining team was able to make some progress this week on other issues.

Until we reach a tentative agreement, we will continue to mobilize against AT&T's corporate greed.  Apple Stores, Authorized Agents & Best Buy continue to be a focus for actions.

Summer fairs, festivals, farmers markets, and any other public event are great opportunities for us to spread the message of AT&T's Corporate Greed.  We will continue contact the public at AT&T-sponsored events as well.  Our collective action inside and outside the company is the only way to maintain affordable healthcare and get the fair and equitable contract we all need and deserve.

If you are not currently involved in Local Union activities, it is not too late.  Call your Local Union office or talk to a Steward or Officer in your area to see how you can help.

It is your future, your family's livelihood, that is under attack.

Here are this week's reportable actions:

1058 members continue to work to rule, filing mass grievances of workplace issues and several NLRB charges relating to contract violations by the management in New Jersey.  They also wear red on Thursday and black on Friday.

2252 is continuing on-job actions including standing and clicking.

3250 Mobilization Coordinator prepared picket captains for a Midnight run on August 8 – just in case.  Members continue to click within the buildings DAILY.  Last Thursday and Friday, members in buildings in Atlanta and Alpharetta packed up their personal things and cheat sheets – just in case.  Mobilization using the grievance process is making the largest impact on the Company.  It ties them up in meetings, and some managers are now required to manage.  On Friday, Alpharetta held an informational picket and rally on North Point Parkway about 5:00 p.m.  Members are encouraged to continue: Participate in hourly mobilization activities, Take breaks & lunches, Volunteer for Nothing, Work No Overtime, Work to the Rule, Do a Quality Job, Do not work in unsafe environments & Monitor your vehicle and/or work area for occupational hazards and report discrepancies.  It is NOT business as usual for CWA at at$t.  We are holding the line for a fair and just contract!

3603 Charlotte combined Black Friday with Healthcare Day.

3902 stands every hour on the hour for five minutes.  They wear "solutions?" buttons (when asked, they say they want a fair contract).  They wore signs mourning working without a contract for 130 days.

4320 CORE members hit the streets in their mobile caravan; on the way through town they stopped by to stand with their Legacy T brothers and sister on the informational picket line.

4998 used the 4-month Anniversary of our contract expiration to "wake up" at$t.  At 12:00 p.m. on 8/4, using Party noisemakers, the members showed at$t that they were done letting the Company hit the snooze button ... it is time to wake up and start bargaining a FAIR and EQUITABLE contract.  They continue to wear red, and will continue to stay strong!  Local 4998 stands behind our bargaining team!!!!  More actions will be taken in the very near future to keep the Company "awake"!

6150 is wearing red on Thursdays and black on Fridays.  They joined the picket line with 6215 on Thursday.  They send email bargaining updates to members as well.  They are still standing strong!

6350 continues to push AT&T hard for a fair contract.  On July 29, AT&T provided food for a recognition party; Local 6350 answered back with a flyer that read, "AT&T gives us Food today, it will feed a Technician, CSSA or SOC for a day, BUT AT&T bargain a FAIR contract and Feed a Technician, CSSA or SOC for the LIFE OF THE AGREEMENT".  On August 6, Local 6350 joined forces with their brothers and sisters at Local 6300 for a rally for a Fair Contract with AT&T at 1 Bell Center, where their Executive Board walked picket for over an hour in almost 100 degree heat.  On August 8, members of the Executive Board and a steward picketed three separate Authorized Dealers of AT&T, where they distributed their flyers warning potential customers of who they were dealing with; the police were called in a couple of situations, so they definitely are turning up the heat, getting their message out.  They continue their internal mobilization; Click it or Picket it continues during the day to remind management that they are ready to walk at any time.  They continue to wear red on Thursdays and black on Fridays to demonstrate to the Company that, no matter what our peers in other Districts are doing, we deserve a fair and just contract.

7250 remains ready to strike, wearing red daily and black on Fridays.  Over the weekend, members and mobilizers attended the Game Fair (for sportsmen) with the Minneapolis Labor Fed, where they talked about healthcare reform and our 18 week struggle at AT&T against corporate greed and for job security.  This week's lunchtime informational picket was supported by Postal Workers and the CWA MN State Council.  Many members attended on their breaks & lunch.  They continue to receive support from the public and encouragement from passersby.  Their technicians in five states remain united and focused on quality and safety.

7750 participates in daily Solidarity break walks and weekly informational pickets with retirees.  They look for opportunities to leaflet the public and spread the word about AT$T corporate greed; hundreds of flyers have been handed out.  Their message: "United we are one, we are not done".  No contract NO PEACE!!!

13500 continues to make noise during the day and wears red on Thursday.  Special thanks to those members who wear RED EVERY DAY!!

13550 participated in informational hand-billing on Wednesday with the "What are the Facts?" flyer, and continued inside actions including wearing red on Thursday and black on Friday.

Continue to work safely and provide the outstanding quality that CWA members are known for.  If you witness any unsafe working conditions or OSHA violations, report them to your Local Stewards or Officers.  You can also contact OSHA directly and then notify your Local Union.  Make sure your safety and protective gear is functioning properly.

We continue to have issues with changes in working conditions.  If you experience a change in working conditions, please report it to your Local Officers or Stewards and bbates@cwa-union.org.  We have been filing grievances & NLRB charges all over the country.

If you have any questions or comments about this report, or would like to submit your actions or pictures from events, please contact cwainfo@gmail.com.
