Mobilization Report
With little to no movement at the table, the bargaining team needs actions from all locations to continue. Below are some of the reportable items that have been happening nationwide:
1058 members wear red on Thursday and black on Friday. The Local's letter-writing campaign to Congress continues with members urging our elected officials to write to Randall Stephenson to bargain a fair and equitable contract with no cost shifting of healthcare to retirees or active workers.
3310 is standing for a fair Contract (inside forces) at our workplace for 2 minutes at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. every day. Friday we participated in District Wide Health Care Day - all forces received a flyer with a band-aid attached "It's sick what AT&T is trying to do to our Healthcare". Inside forces wear black and outside forces wear orange on Fridays.
3519 started writing letters to all local newspaper editors and posting to local on line web sites. We will continue to wear orange on Thursday and dark blue on Friday at our work locations here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
6350 continues mobilization including wearing red on Thursdays and black on Fridays. We participated in a rally at 1 AT&T Center last Tuesday that coincided with the All Star Game in St. Louis. We also spent time with site meetings revolving around organizational changes with our call receipt jobs and MSOC. We will be focusing on outsourcing & job security.
7250 on job actions by members remind the company that we remain focused on making sure our issues are addressed at the bargaining table. Outside, our technicians continue to perform quality work safely with every job. Thursday's lunch time informational picket was well attended by CWA, AFL-CIO & AFSCME members. Many workers downtown stopped by to remind us they are supportive of our actions against corporate greed at AT&T.
7750 This week, in addition to the daily solidarity walks and weekly informational picket with the retirees, we held a "Blood, Sweat & Tears" walk on Tuesday, July 21st. Over a hundred red balloons were distributed and the solidarity walk was held outside (in front of the windows of our District managers). We wanted to remind everyone why we wear red and send a message to management that we'll continue to fight until we get a fair contract. District 3 bargaining flyers were desk dropped to our members.
Continue to work safely and provide the outstanding quality that CWA members are known for. If you witness any unsafe working conditions or OSHA violations, report them to your Local Stewards or Officers. You can also contact OSHA directly and then notify your Local Union. Make sure your safety and protective gear is functioning properly.
If you experience a change in working conditions, please report them to your Local Officers or Stewards and bbates@cwa-union.org.
Summer fairs, festivals, farmers markets, and any other public event are great times for us to be spreading the message of AT&T's Corporate Greed. Our collective action inside and outside the company is the only way to maintain affordable healthcare and get the fair and equitable contract we all need and deserve.
