Mobilization Report

With less than 72 hours left before contract expiration, C&T Locals representing AT&T Legacy T go wild!

CWA focused on quality and safety in the work place this week.

All across the country, members continue to take a stand and make noise; some daily, others on the hour or half hour.  6350 calls it "click it, or picket".  (The company hates it … so keep up the great work!)  In addition to clickers & tapping pencils, 7250 put screws in soda cans & covered them with duct tape, since their clickers "disappeared".

In preparation for a strike on Sunday, we began packing our desks.  Many Locals provided bags for their members to remove personal items.  13550 named it "Pack it & Picket".

Most of the Locals in District 4 have distributed early warning letters to let our biggest customers know that they will not have the same level of service next week if the corporation forces us out on strike.  We have reports of thousands of letters being sent to customers.  4340 sent 165 letters alone.  6377 reached out to customers including Walgreen's, Kmart, Sears & KFC.  6450's customers included Pepsi-Co, Kraft, Taco Bell, & IGA.  7250 contacted Medtronics, American Express (Ameriprise) and Best Buy.  13550 notified PNC Banks & PPG.

We have had much success with the organizing of the AT&T Authorized Dealers.  4320, 6450, 7250, 7906 all reported positive feedback and much interest from the employees in the stores.  4320 has also made organizing attempts at Best Buy, Wal-Mart and CVS.

2252 passed out condoms with messages like "Protect my health benefits"; 4320 gave out balloons indicating AT&T is full of hot air; others distributed suckers with messages like "Don't be a sucker" and "We're no dum-dums"; 6350 mailed tennis shoes to Randall Stephenson; 7750 passed out mini picket signs stating "No Mickey Mouse Contracts"; 13500/13550 distributed Gerry Horgan fliers to remind people why we started wearing red, and passed out CWA red terrible towels.

1058 reports solid red on Thursdays, and they are joined by many other Locals wearing red every day with black on Fridays.

4320 reminds us, when the Company collects our badge, keys, trucks or any other equipment, to ask the manager for a receipt with all items inventoried on it.  If your managers refuse to provide proof of what equipment/property they have received, you may wish to call Corporate Security at 1-800-807-4205 to file a report.

Many informational pickets were happening today.  Remember to send pictures to cwainfo@gmail.com to load on the website … not just of rallies, but of your members participating in daily actions.  You can view all photos by going to www.CWAatATT.com.

We have many parties, rallies & vigils scheduled for Saturday; don't forget to send photos and reports for those activities also.  My apologies if your activities weren't highlighted.

As a follow up to Wednesday night's conference call: 2252 President Sean Linehan was suspended April 2, 2009 for 60 days after an action in Oakton, VA last week at the site of Legacy T bargaining.

Keep up the great mobilization!  We are the power behind the bargaining team & together we will reach the fair contract we all need and deserve.

In Solidarity.
