Jake Glaser Honored for HIV/AIDS Advocacy

EGPAF

You will be pleased to know that Jake Glaser will be honored this coming weekend by the Desert AIDS Project at their annual Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards Gala in Palm Springs.

Desert AIDS Project was founded in 1984 as an all-volunteer response to the emerging AIDS crisis. DAP today is a one-of-a-kind AIDS service organization because it delivers all essential services under one roof through a holistic care model. DAP is well-known in the Palm Desert community and the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards gala is one of the community’s most important annual events.

The annual dinner has raised millions of dollars for HIV/AIDS programs in the Palm Desert area and has honored a number of well-known activists, leaders, and funders from the AIDS community. Past award recipients include current EGPAF Foundation Ambassador Hydeia Broadbent, a number of local and California-based HIV/AIDS activists, and celebrities including Dionne Warwick, Kristin Chenoweth, and Barry Manilow.

This year’s event is honoring five individuals for their outstanding commitments to HIV/AIDS issues, including Jake, who will receive the Partners in Activism Award. Jake is being recognized for his commitment to HIV/AIDS education and advocacy work, the majority of which stems from his ongoing involvement with EGPAF.

We’re looking forward to having him recognized for his work. Following the event he will be highlighting the experience on the EGPAF’s blog. We also hope to use the connections he makes at the event for future Development and Communications initiatives.
