Calling it "More than just a dream come true, because I never could have dreamt this," Rick Hummel, a veteran sports columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and a member of TNG-CWA Local 36047, was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in July along with baseball greats Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn.

Hummel has covered the Cardinals for 36 years and is known to Post-Dispatch readers as "The Commish." A story on the Hall of Fame website said he was honored for "his strength, persistence and sharpness of his wit, not on the pitcher's mound but in the press box. "

In his column recounting the events at the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., Hummel described it as, "The best weekend of my professional and personal life."
