In The News: CWAer Takes Job With New Senator

Former CWA Local 4309 President John Ryan who ran the successful campaign for new U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown has accepted a job as Brown's Ohio director.

"I see this as an opportunity to make a difference throughout the state by leading a progressive cause built around good jobs and fighting for the middle class," Ryan said. Brown, formerly an Ohio congressman, is a champion of workers' rights and fair trade policies that protect workers here and abroad.

To work on Brown's campaign, Ryan took a nine-month leave of absence from his last job as executive secretary of the Cleveland-area North Shore Federation of Labor. He has been a Local 4309 member for 30 years and served as president from 1982 to 1991. He was also a founding member and former director of Cleveland Jobs with Justice.
