Feedback: A Grateful Marine

Greetings From Iraq. My name is Scott Anderson and I work in the Pomona Yard as a Special Equipment Installer (CWA Local 9588). I am on military leave and here in Iraq as a U.S. Marine.

I wanted to write to say thanks to CWA for fighting for our benefits. Being deployed here in Iraq, it makes me feel good knowing that I am benefiting from my CWA membership. Because of CWA, I know I will have a job when I get back. Thank you all. It helps me to not worry about home.

In Iraq, life is not what you all see on the news. It is not easy or fun here, but there is light at the end of the tunnel here and we can see it often. I am proud of the good work we are doing here and if you all sat and talked with the everyday Iraqis (as I get to do) you would find the family next door. Most only know dictatorship and oppression and on Election Day, each Iraqi smiled and said, crying, "Thank you." This is all I need to sleep well at night.

I was at the Pentagon on September 11th and I will never forget that day. All our lives changed. We are working hard in Iraq, but the real work for Americans is at home. Our school boards and city councils need the input of all of us. Taking an active role in your family, your community and your union is what is truly important and will keep our country strong. We have so much to be grateful for in America.

I would love to hear from CWA members. My mailing and e-mail addresses are below. Thanks again to all who make CWA work and protect our jobs and benefits. I look forward to returning home to California, getting back to work and having a normal life.
